A Year 5 student from Donburn Primary School has been recognised for her creativity after winning the ManningJAM Youth Fest Logo Competition.
Alyssa Russo received the award during a school assembly at Donburn Primary School in Doncaster on 7 August. The presentation followed several other school awards and was led by Principal Rachael Sketcher.
Felix Wong of Echo3 Media, a local web and design agency, and Carina Calcagno, immediate past president of the Rotaract Club of Whitehorse, presented Alyssa with the award and a $200 gift card. The competition prize was donated by Echo3 Media.
ManningJAM Youth Fest is a new youth-led music festival bringing together young performers, creativity and community in Manningham. Students from primary and secondary schools across Manningham were invited to design the festival’s official logo.
Speaking at the presentation, Calcagno explained that Rotaract brings together young people who give back to their local communities through fundraising, volunteering and leadership opportunities. She described ManningJAM as a festival run “by youth for youth” to showcase young talent in Manningham.
Wong said organisers had hoped to find a design that captured the excitement, energy and passion of young musicians performing on stage.
“Alyssa, your logo design was fun, it was vibrant and full of the spirit that we’re trying to capture,” he said.
He then announced Alyssa as the logo competition winner and presented her with the $200 gift card, prompting warm applause from the audience.
Alyssa’s winning design will become the official ManningJAM Youth Fest logo and may be used across festival materials including posters, social media, T-shirts and event signage.
