Eastern Freeway and EastLink tunnels closure this weekend to cause major disruptions

Local drivers are advised to plan ahead and avoid the Eastern Freeway this weekend. The freeway will be closed in both directions between Bulleen Road/Thompsons Road and Tram Road from 10pm, Friday 15 May to 5am, Monday 18 May.This closure will allow crews to asphalt new freeway lanes, widen Bulleen Road bridge and build new noise walls between Bulleen and Elgar Road.

The following Eastern Freeway entry ramps will be closed during these works:

Chandler Highway Ringwood-bound
Middleborough Road citybound
Blackburn Road citybound
Springvale Road citybound

The following Doncaster Road eastbound turns will be disallowed during these works:

No right turn into Rose Street.
No right turn into Elgar Road.
No right turn into Tram Road.
No right turn into Frederick Street.

The following Manningham Road turns will be disallowed during these works:

No right turn into Thompsons Road in both directions.
No right turn into High Street southbound.

Temporary clearways during these works:

Doncaster Road between Longview Rd and Burke Rd westbound durring the freeway closure will be a clearway meaning no street parking will be allowed. Please allow for delays up to 60 minutes.

There will also be some disruptions with bus routes during the freeway closure:

Bus route 906 will not service the bus stops on Blackburn Road south of Doncaster Road or on the citybound freeway ramps at Blackburn Road and Wetherby Road. Buses will be detoured during the closure.
Bus routes 907 and 908 will not service the bus stop on the Doncaster Road citybound entry ramp and will be detoured during the closure.

Also, there will be maintenance work on the EastLink Tunnels:

Between Saturday, 16th May at 8pm to Sunday, 17th at 7am EastLink will be closed both directions between Springvale Rd and Canterbury Rd. Ringwood Bypass in both directions between Ringwood St and Maroondah Hwy during this time will also be closed.
