Table of Contents
Local drivers are advised to plan ahead and avoid the Eastern Freeway from this Wednesday night. The freeway will be closed in both directions between Doncaster Road and Middleborough Road from 10pm, Wednesday 7 January to 5am, Monday 12 January.
This closure will allow crews to safely demolish the original Doncaster Rd bridge and install high voltage cables under the freeway.
The following Eastern Freeway entry ramps will be closed during these works:
- Chandler Highway Ringwood-bound entry ramp
- Thompsons Road Ringwood-bound entry ramp
- Bulleen Road citybound exit ramp
- Blackburn Road citybound entry ramp
- Springvale Road citybound entry ramp
The following Doncaster Road eastbound turns will be disallowed during these works:
- No right turn into Rose Street
- No right turn into Elgar Road
- No right turn into Tram Road
- No right turn into Frederick Street.
Also ALL right turns at Wetherby Road/Victoria Street except heading eastbound on Doncaster Road into Wetherby Road will be disallowed.
Temporary clearways during these works:
Doncaster Road between High St and Wetherby Rd/Victoria St from 10pm, Wednesday 7 January to 5am, Monday 12 January will be a clearway meaning no street parking will be allowed.
Please allow for delays up to 90 minutes.
When the freeway closure is finished, the Doncaster Road citybound exit ramp will remain closed until late January while they build a new temporary ramp.

Disruptions to Bus services during these works:
From 10pm Wednesday, 7 January to the last service Sunday, 11 January...
- Bus routes 295,303, 318 and 906 will be diverted and have some bus stop closures.
- Bus routes 280,282,902,903 and 907 will have some bus stop closures.
