Welcome to the twenty-first issue of Manningham Life!
Congratulations to all nominees and winners at the inaugural Manningham Community Awards, including Leon Moore, our Citizen of the Year 2025. It was wonderful to see so many community members recognised for their contributions. You’ll find the full list of award recipients on page 5.
We’re also delighted to welcome new contributors to the team. Celia and Yvonne, journalism students from the University of Melbourne, have written two thoughtful stories — on the closure of post offices and banks (page 6), and on the “sandwich” generation (page 8). They’ve also translated their articles into Chinese, available on our website.
Renita, formerly of The Malaysian Tatler, joins us with a charming feature on twinships (page 4) — did you know eleven pairs of twins started Year 7 at Doncaster East Secondary College this year? She’ll also be writing for our new online lifestyle section, Living & Dining, celebrating local food and hospitality, while helping residents discover what’s new in our community.
This will be our final printed issue as we move fully online — allowing us to share stories more often, reach more Manningham households, and offer more affordable advertising for local businesses. All your favourite content — council reports, community stories, and events — will continue on our website.
I want to sincerely thank our readers, contributors, and especially our advertisers for your wonderful support. Manningham Life has always been about connection, and we look forward to continuing that journey with you online.
