Table of Contents
Local drivers are advised to plan ahead and avoid the Eastern Freeway from this Wednesday night. The freeway will be closed in both directions between Chandler Highway and Tram Road from 10pm, Friday, 19th June to 5am, Monday, 22nd June.
The following Eastern Freeway entry ramps will be closed during the freeway closure:
- Hoddle Street southbound (from Clifton Hill) Ringwood-bound entry ramp
- Middleborough Road citybound exit ramp
- Blackburn Road citybound entry ramp
- Springvale Road citybound entry ramp
Lanes will be reduced onto the Eastern Freeway from Alexander Parade and Hoddle Street northbound and some right-hand turns will be prohibited.
Thompsons Road will also be closed between Bulleen Road and the Bulleen Park and Ride during the freeway closure to complete concreting works.
There will be 24/7 clearways during the freeway closure on:
- Doncaster Road in both directions between Burke Road and Cityview Road
- Heidelberg Road between Lowther Street and Yaralee Street
- High Street prior to Valerie/High Street/ Harp Road intersection.

After the freeway closure...
When the freeway closure is finished, the Bulleen Road citybound entry ramp will remain closed until Wednesday, 1st of July while they deliver & install large beams & concrete panels to construct new elevated ramps.
Please allow for delays up 20 minutes.
Disruptions to Bus services during these works:
Bus routes 906, 907 and 908 from 10pm, Friday, 19th June last service on Sunday, 22nd June:
- Bus stops on Blackburn Road south of Doncaster Road and on the citybound freeway ramps at Blackburn Road and Wetherby Road will not be serviced
- Bus stop on the Doncaster Road citybound entry ramp will not be serviced
- Buses will be detoured during the closure.
Bus routes 305, 309 and 905 from 10pm, Friday 19th June last service on Tuesday 30th June:
- Bulleen Road/Eastern Freeway citybound entry-ramp bus stop will be closed. Passengers are advised to use the Bulleen Park and Ride.
- Bulleen Park and Ride/Thompsons Road bus stop will also be closed and it looks to be long term until late 2026.
