An immersive, multi-sensory exhibition is transforming the Manningham Art Gallery, inviting visitors into a dreamlike space shaped by light and sound.
Titled Before Words There Were Rainbows, the exhibition is created by local artists Ben Street and Christobel Elliott. Running until 2 May 2026, it explores the space between waking and dreaming through large-scale projection and immersive sound.

Visitors can sit back and experience looping animated visuals paired with an atmospheric soundscape, creating a surreal environment where boundaries between time, nature and human perception blur.

Manningham Mayor Jim Grivas said the exhibition highlights local creative talent.
“We have so many talented artists right here in Manningham, and we are thrilled they can share their vision with the community,” he said.
Local visitor Lucy Liu described the experience as calming and immersive.
“It feels like stepping into a dream. The combination of visuals and sound is really relaxing,” she said.
Through light, movement and sound, the exhibition offers visitors a moment of stillness — a brief escape from everyday life.
The exhibition is showing at Manningham Art Gallery, MC Square, Doncaster.
